Lable — Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 10, 2026
Lable ("the app", "we") is made by Alex Sehlke, United States. Contact: alexsehlke@gmail.com.
This policy explains what Lable collects, why, and the choices you have. In short: we keep what's needed to save your recipes and your imports, we don't sell anything, and we don't track you.
What we collect
Your account. When you first open Lable, it creates an anonymous account for you. If you choose to sign in with Apple, Google or email, we store your email address so you can sign in on other devices. If you use "Hide My Email" with Apple, we only see Apple's relay address.
Your recipes. The recipes you save, your edits, your favorites, and the web address each recipe came from.
Imports and purchases. Your balance of imports, and a record of each import (the page you imported, whether it worked, and why not if it failed). When you buy imports or subscribe to Lable+, Apple handles the payment; we receive the App Store transaction id so we can add your imports. We never see your payment details.
Device check. To give free imports only once per device, we ask Apple's DeviceCheck service whether this device has already claimed them. Apple stores one bit per device for us; we don't receive or store a device identifier.
Not collected: your location, contacts, photos, health data or browsing history. Lable doesn't read pages you don't import. Ingredients you send to Apple Reminders are written on your device and never sent to us.
How we use it
- To run the app: save and sync your recipes, calculate nutrition, and keep your balance of imports.
- To fix problems: import records show us which websites fail to import, and help us answer support requests.
- We don't use your data for advertising, don't sell it, and don't share it for tracking.
Who processes it for us
- Supabase (database, sign-in and server functions) stores your account, recipes and import records.
- Anthropic (the Claude AI model) receives the text of a recipe page you import, to extract and tidy the recipe. It doesn't receive your email or account details. Anthropic doesn't use this data to train its models.
- Apple handles in-app purchases, Sign in with Apple and DeviceCheck. Google handles Sign in with Google if you use it.
They process data only to provide their service to us.
How long we keep it
As long as you have an account. Recipes you delete stay in Recently Deleted on your device for 30 days, then they're gone. Import records are kept for up to 12 months to diagnose problems.
Your choices
- Delete your account in Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account, your recipes and your imports from our servers. (If you subscribe to Lable+, also cancel it in your Apple account settings; deleting your account doesn't stop Apple's billing.)
- Get a copy or a correction of your data by emailing alexsehlke@gmail.com.
- If you're in the EU, UK or a similar jurisdiction, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data, and to complain to your data-protection authority. Our legal basis for processing is providing the service you asked for (contract), and our legitimate interest in keeping it working.
Children
Lable isn't directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age where you live), and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
